RED SOFT announced new RED OS release

The Russian developer RED SOFT has announced the release 7.2 MUROM of the operating system RED OS. Release 7.2 MUROM is based on the Linux kernel 4.19 and includes more than 24,000 packages.

The key release features are:

- the most current versions of the system libraries and the repository package base;

- supports more than 10,000 models of peripheral equipment;

- X.org and Wayland graphic servers;

- solutions for domain infrastructure;

- centralized configuration management system;

- containerization support;

- full two-factor authentication;

- cloud storage;

- virtual desktop infrastructure support.

RED OS is a general purpose operating system for servers and workstations, based on Linux kernel and providing a universal environment for the applications. The product is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases of the Ministry of Communications of Russia (No. 3751).

Currently, RED OS 7.2 MUROM is in the process of testing compliance with the information security requirements for the protection profile of type-A operating systems for protection class 4 ИТ.ОС.А4.ПЗ, and in the third quarter of 2019 the certificate of the FSTEC of Russia is expected to be issued.

Technological independence and sanction tolerance is one of the main advantages of the RED OS operating system. Exclusive rights to the product belong to the Russian company RED SOFT, which has no foreign beneficiaries. The local development team provides its own development and assembly infrastructure, which ensures a high level and continuity of maintenance and technical support. The results of the audit by Autonomous Noncommercial Organization "Competence Center for Import Substitution in the Field of ICT" confirmed the import-independence of the RED OS.
