Starting in 2019, according to the plan of the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia, state authorities are transferring to domestically produced software. In the current circumstances, work in this direction acquires critical importance. RED SOFT, a Russian IT solutions and services provider, assists government organizations in implementing import substitution projects, in particular, replacing foreign operating systems with the Russian one.
The vendor reports supplying over 3 thousand licenses of the RED OS operating system for the Ministry of Information Development and Communication of the Perm Territory. The installation of the purchased sets of the domestic operating system in the executive authorities of the krai and its subordinate institutions is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
RED OS is a Russian operating system of Linux family for servers and workstations, which provides a universal environment for the use of application software. The product is certified by FSTEC of Russia (No. 4060 dated January 12, 2019), which confirms its compliance with information security requirements and allows its use in government information systems. RED OS is registered in the Unified Register of Russian Software and Databases (No. 3751).
Moreover, the RED OS has a user-friendly interface and a wide ecosystem based on compatibility with domestic software and hardware, which allows the user to make a seamless switch from foreign products.
Employees of the Perm region's authorities will get the RED OS with access to all product updates for three years. Government employees will be able to master the use of the software in a short period of time through online training, which the company will conduct in March.

The rapid migration of the authorities of the Perm Territory to the RED OS operating system demonstrates the maturity of our information technology market. We have substitutes for foreign software, they have passed all sorts of tests and the necessary certification, which allows their safe use, including in the public sector", Alexei Chernikov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Perm Territory, noted.
